Traveling with your dog should feel easy and relaxing—not like a juggling act between pet policies and tiny hotel rooms. Staying in a pet-friendly home in Asheville means you and your pup can enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains together without worrying about leaving them behind in a kennel.

At WOLFEHAVEN, that experience feels even more special. Our farmhouse sits quietly in a sheltered valley surrounded by a real working farm, where the loudest sounds you’ll hear are the wind in the trees and birds calling across the fields. Instead of busy hallways and elevators, your dog can stretch out, explore the fresh mountain air, and relax right alongside you.

Whether you spend the day hiking mountain trails or simply reading a book on the porch with your dog at your feet, this is the kind of place where everything slows down. The mountain air, the quiet surroundings, and the open space make it easy to finally take a deep breath.

A Farmhouse with Real History

Part of what makes staying at Wolfehaven so unique is the history behind it. The farmhouse was originally built in 1925, and over the decades it served as a home for families and workers who helped care for the land surrounding it.

While the original manor house that once stood on the property has long since disappeared, this farmhouse remained, a small but meaningful piece of the area's story. When we renovated the home in 2020, we wanted to preserve that character while also making it comfortable for modern travelers.

The renovation focused on creating a place that feels both cozy and updated. We added modern touches and improved energy efficiency while keeping the charm that gives the farmhouse its personality. The result is a space that feels fresh and comfortable but still carries the quiet soul of the old property.

When you stay here, you’re not just renting a vacation house—you’re stepping into a little slice of Asheville’s past that has been thoughtfully cared for.

Why Private Homes Are Better for Pets

Anyone who has traveled with a dog knows that hotels can be stressful for pets. The unfamiliar sounds of elevators, barking from neighboring rooms, and constant hallway activity can keep animals on edge.

A private Asheville pet-friendly house gives your pet something much better: space and calm.

At Wolfehaven, your dog can settle into a routine that feels closer to home. There’s room to stretch out, plenty of fresh air, and peaceful surroundings where they won’t feel overwhelmed.

Some of the things guests love most include:

● Quiet surroundings – No noisy hotel hallways or crowded lobbies

● Room to relax – Multiple rooms and cozy spaces to unwind

● Outdoor access – Plenty of fresh mountain air and open space nearby

● A full kitchen – Easy meal prep for both you and your pet

● Laundry access – Perfect after muddy trail adventures

It’s a much more natural environment for pets—and a far more relaxing stay for you too.

A True Mountain Escape

One of the best parts about Wolfehaven is the setting. The farmhouse sits within a working farm that is actively managed for crops and timber, which means you are surrounded by real farmland rather than crowded neighborhoods or tourist developments.

You might hear the wind moving through the trees or birds flying across the fields. At night, the quiet can be almost surprising if you’re used to city life.

It’s the kind of place where mornings start slowly with coffee on the porch and evenings end watching the sky change colors over the valley.

For many guests—and their dogs—that peaceful environment becomes the highlight of the entire trip.

Close to Asheville, Far from the Noise

Even though the property feels completely tucked away, you’re still incredibly close to everything Asheville has to offer.

That balance is one of the things guests love most about staying here. You can spend the morning hiking through the Blue Ridge Mountains or exploring scenic trails with your dog, then head into town for dinner or a craft beer later in the day.

Downtown Asheville’s restaurants, breweries, and shops are just a short drive away. So you get the best of both worlds: quiet countryside mornings and lively city evenings.

It’s the perfect setup for travelers who want adventure during the day but peace and quiet when they come home.

Traveling with Your Dog in Asheville

Asheville is often called “Dog City USA,” and it’s easy to see why. Many restaurants, breweries, and outdoor patios welcome dogs, and it’s common to see locals walking their pups through historic neighborhoods or relaxing at outdoor cafés.

There are also plenty of scenic places nearby where dogs are welcome on leash, including trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway and parks throughout the region.

Because of that, traveling with your dog here feels natural. Your pet isn’t just allowed—they’re part of the adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there breed or weight restrictions for your rentals?

We generally welcome all well-behaved dogs regardless of their size. We believe that big dogs deserve mountain vacations just as much as small ones. However, we do ask that you disclose the number of pets when booking so we can prepare the home properly for your arrival.

What should I bring for my pet during the stay?

We recommend bringing your pet's favorite bed and familiar toys to help them feel at home. While we provide a clean environment, having scents from home helps reduce travel anxiety. Don't forget their leash, as Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway have strict leash laws for safety.

Are the yards at your properties fully fenced?

Many of our properties feature fenced areas, but we always specify this in the individual listing. If a secure yard is your top priority, we can help you select the specific home that fits that need. We always encourage supervision while pets are outdoors to protect them from local wildlife.

Is there an extra fee for bringing my pet?

We do charge a modest pet fee to cover the additional deep-cleaning required after a pet stay. This ensures that the home remains pristine for the next guest, whether they have allergies or are traveling with their own animals. We keep these fees transparent and fair.

Experience Asheville the Way It Was Meant to Be

A mountain getaway is about slowing down and enjoying simple moments. A walk through a quiet trail, a sunset over the valley, or a peaceful evening on the porch can turn into the memories that stay with you long after the trip ends.

At WOLFEHAVEN, we wanted to create a place where those moments happen naturally. The farmhouse combines the charm of a historic 1925 home with the comfort of modern updates, all set within the calm of a working farm in the mountains.

It’s peaceful, welcoming, and full of character—the kind of place where both you and your dog can truly relax.

If you're looking for a pet-friendly home in Asheville that feels authentic, comfortable, and a little bit special, Wolfehaven might just be the perfect place to stay.
